Komisja Konkursowa powołana przez Radę Naukową Instytutu Fizyki Plazmy i Laserowej Mikrosyntezy im. S. Kaliskiego w Warszawie do wyłonienia kandydata na stanowisko dyrektora Instytutu po zakończeniu rozmowy kwalifikacyjnej i dokonaniu oceny końcowej przedstawia Ministrowi Gospodarki kandydaturę
Pana dr. hab. Andrzeja Gałkowskiego
na stanowisko dyrektora Instytutu Fizyki Plazmy i Laserowej Mikrosyntezy im. Sylwestra Kaliskiego w Warszawie.
Zielone światło dla organizacji kolejnej podróżującej wystawy Fusion Expo zapaliło się na ostatnim posiedzeniu ciała zarządzającego programem fuzji jądrowej w Europie. Nowa edycja wystawy ma powstać do końca 2017 roku.
Decyzja o kontynuacji Fusion Expo zapadła 1-2 lipca br. w Warszawie podczas 10. Posiedzenia Zgromadzenia Ogólnego Konsorcjum EUROfusion. Z zapowiedzi członków Konsorcjum, będzie to zupełnie nowa wystawa prezentująca europejskie badania i osiągnięcia w dziedzinie syntezy termojądrowej. Z pewnością można się spodziewać ciekawych modułów i makiet eksperymentalnych reaktorów termojądrowych typu tokamak ITER i stellarator Wendelstein 7-X.
Poprzednia edycja Fusion Expo wędrowała po Europie od 2009 do 2013 roku. Obywatele takich państw jak Francja, Słowenia, Czechy, Polska, Irlandia, Hiszpania, Włochy, Holandia, Belgia, Słowacja, Austria, Niemcy, Wielka Brytania, Estonia, Szwecja poznawali tajniki fizyki plazmy. W Polsce wystawę można było obejrzeć w Koszalinie, Szczecinie, Łodzi i Katowicach. Część eksponatów pierwszej edycji Fusion Expo znajduje się w Instytucie Fizyki Plazmy i Laserowej Mikrosyntezy.
Po raz pierwszy w Polsce odbyło się międzynarodowe spotkanie grupy roboczej koordynującej prace nad opanowaniem reakcji fuzji jądrowej w układach typu stellarator-heliotron. Powierzenie organizacji konferencji Instytutowi Fizyki Plazmy i Laserowej Mikrosyntezy było wyrazem uznania ze strony społeczności międzynarodowej polskiego wkładu w budowę stellaratora W7-X zlokalizowanego w Niemczech.
W dniach 17-19 czerwca 2015 roku w Warszawie zgromadzili się uczeni z przodujących ośrodków plazmowych w Niemczech, Hiszpanii, Japonii, Stanach Zjednoczonych, Ukrainie i Belgii. Fakt, że 14. spotkanie pt. COORDINATED WORKING GROUP MEETING zostało zorganizowane w Polsce, pozwoliło to na udział polskich naukowców z różnych instytucji naukowo-badawczych.
Celem spotkania było omówienie najnowszych wyników badań plazmy w układach typu stellarator-heliotron, wymianę doświadczeń, nawiązanie współpracy oraz wypracowanie wspólnych planów ku opanowaniu kontrolowanej reakcji fuzji jądrowej.

Naukowcy IFPiLM wzięli udział w pierwszym Polsko-Francuskim Forum Nauki i Innowacji. Celem spotkania było zaprezentowanie polsko-francuskich projektów naukowych i przedyskutowanie rozwoju współpracy naukowej między Francją a Polską.
Kadra naukowa Instytutu opowiedziała o wspólnie prowadzonych projektach w formie posterów. Zespół pod kierownictwem dr Maryny Chernyshovej, we współpracy z francuskim Komisariatem Energii Atomowej (CEA), przedstawił postępy w projekcie dotyczącym konstrukcji detektorów GEM-owych dla powstającego we Francji tokamaka WEST. Z kolei zespół dr. Jacka Kurzyny przybliżył uczestnikom spotkania wyniki i perspektywy prac badawczych nad napędami plazmowymi dla satelitów, prowadzonych w ramach projektów LµPPT (Innovative Liquid Micro Pulsed Plasma Thruster) oraz KLIMT (The Krypton Large IMpulse).
Ponadto, na Forum poruszone zostały kwestie związane z mobilnością naukowców. Postulowano o zwiększenie mobilności, aby służyła ona efektywnemu rozwojowi nauki. Wspomniano o potrzebie sfinalizowania powołania Europejskiej Przestrzeni Badawczej. Dyskutowano na temat komercjalizacji badań naukowych w Polsce. Pojawił się także głos o zmianie metody ewaluacji prac badawczych, a mianowicie, zaproponowano odejście od punktów za bibliografię w zamian za ocenę jakości powstających prac.
Forum odbyło się 1 czerwca 2015 r. w Bibliotece Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Zostało zorganizowane przez Ambasadę Francji w Polsce, Instytut Francuski oraz Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego. Forum stało się ważną platformą do wymiany poglądów i idei rozwoju zarówno polsko-francuskiej współpracy naukowej, jak i ogólnoeuropejskiej. Kolejne tego typu spotkanie planowane jest na rok 2017.
14 maja 2015 roku w IFPiLM odbyło się kolejne posiedzenie Rady Zarządzającej Centrum NTE. Jednym z najważniejszych punktów spotkania było merytoryczne sprawozdanie z działalności Centrum za rok 2014, które wygłosił prof. Roman Zagórski. Dziewięć z dwunastu instytucji wchodzących w skład CeNTE realizowało łącznie 24 projekty, w wyniku których powstały 43 publikacje naukowe. Kierownik Centrum, prof. Zagórski, pozytywnie ocenił polski wkład naukowy w rozwój europejskich badań w dziedzinie fuzji jądrowej. Wspomniał o aktywnym udziale polskich naukowców w tworzenie diagnostyk, pracach eksperymentalnych na doświadczalnych reaktorach termojądrowych typu tokamak i stellarator, a także zaangażowanie w rozwój modelowania w tej dziedzinie.
Ponadto członkowie Rady Zarządzającej CeNTE jeszcze raz wyrazili swoje zainteresowanie umieszczeniem urządzenia Early Neutron Source na terytorium Polski. Na posiedzeniu omówiono zarówno perspektywy tej instalacji jak i jej ważność, dla Polski i dla Europy.
Kolejne posiedzenie zaplanowane jest na grudzień 2015 roku.
