Recent experiments at JET by a team led by Jonathan Graves from the Swiss Associate EPFL have confirmed the link, and shown that the development of NTMs can be controlled by manipulating the fast ions. Surprisingly, adding more energy to the ions, in the form of skilfully applied Ion-Cyclotron Resonance Heating, is the key to minimising the energy loss caused by NTMs.
